Staff Commitment

Staff are encouraged to get fully involved in CR activities.

Since 2007 all staff have been invited to nominate themselves or colleagues, either as individuals or as a team to be considered for the Chief Executive's awards for innovation in CR. Part of the prize has been the opportunity to make generous donations to worthy causes.

The award categories change from year to year and in 2010 Corporate Responsibility and Business Advancement were open for nomination. Staff were encouraged to enter via one of three key areas of work across the Company - Business Development, Operations or Group. In total 6 awards were available for staff nominations, with a further award made at the CEO’s discretion to the person or team that made the most outstanding contribution.

Each winner received vouchers for their personal use and were given the opportunity to donate an amount of money given by the John Laing Charitable Trust to a charity of their choice. The winners as a collective donated £9,500 across their chosen charities.

In 2010 the Awards showcased the very best initiatives from across the John Laing Group which have provided tangible benefits to the business, colleagues and clients.

This year because the awards initiative has proved so popular it is being widened to cover all areas of the business.
